The rooms were clean, when our shower head was broken I told reception and someone came and fixed first thing the next morning. There was a good LCD TV in our room. the use of free internet and free printing was extremely useful.
The room was a little noisy but this was not a huge issue, but it may be during busy periods. There was a large amount of prostitutes in the area which may put some people off however they were not threatening in anyway and didn't approach you.

Had a good time at Hostal Ballesta! The bed was super comfy, and I loved the upgraded room with a balcony view. The only downside was the street noise at night, but honestly, location was perfect for exploring Madrid.

It was very conveniently located to Chueca and Metro Gran Via & walking distance to Plaza Mayor and Museums (Thyssen, etc.)--I am a walker so these latter two locations may be considered a sizeable walk for some.
Woke up to construction work taking place right outside my room in the hallway one morning about 9 or 10a.M.!!!! I did inquire later in the day if construction would continue next morning. They were unsure at first, but spoke to the construcion workers who assured that they were finished on the 4th floor--at least for the remainder of the week I stayed... Also, walls are paperthin, as I discovered my first night. I used earplugs all the remaining nights--a nuisance I don't mind for the great price I got!

The hotel is very clean, provide free internet room, the location is perfect, close to metro station and is in the center of Madrid.I enjoyed the stay a lot.
There are maybe 4 people changing shifts at the front desk and only one was speaking english at good level. Not big deal actually.

Let me tell you, the Mediterranean dishes around here are unreal! Just a stone's throw away, you'll find Hattori Hanzo and The Wild Pig serving up mouthwatering bites that'll make your taste buds dance. Plus, the comfy room I got with a balcony was perfect for sipping wine after a long day of exploring.
Now, the street outside had its characters-plenty of sex workers stepping up to the plate, which could feel a bit sketchy after dark. That said, we stayed safe, and the location still let our trip shine bright!

Comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and a lounge area, a safe, and free Wi-Fi in the room. Good and absolutely perfect location, near a vast pedestrianized public square. Perfectly safe area. Close to a tube station, convenient.

I liked the room, it was cozy and warm, nice decoration, and had a good internet room.
The hostal was pretty good but the area around it was a bit odd and the bathroom celling had a stain, probably an infiltration.

Excellent location, indeed, close to the metro station and very, very central. Affable reception people. Cute room provided with anything necessary. Very reasonable price
The neighbourhood leaves a lot to be desired: hookers at any time of day, noisy drunkards at night, people hanging around until 6/7 a.m., police forces raiding regularly
